Dr. Antony Manyara Sends Strong Message to Critics, Calls for Dedication and Focus Among Student Leaders

Kenya University Students Organization (KUSO) President, Dr. Antony Manyara, has sent out a powerful message emphasizing the importance of commitment, discipline, and purpose among student leaders and youth supporters. In a candid statement shared through The Manyara Command WhatsApp group, Dr. Manyara addressed what he described as a growing trend of negativity and idle talk on social media, urging young people to focus on impactful work instead of online drama.

“There are people whose entire day from morning to evening is spent typing nonsense—‘mbz na zakabej.’ Instead of bothering me, let them leave it. I’ll work with those who are genuinely committed,” he wrote. The message, a mix of English and Swahili, captured attention online for its direct tone and motivational undertone.

Dr. Manyara, known for his active involvement in student affairs and youth empowerment, reminded his audience that leadership is about service and dedication—not popularity or numbers. He noted that he is currently occupied with pressing matters affecting university students, including ensuring that HELB (Higher Education Loans Board) funds are disbursed to students in need. “I am busy nikishughulika mpate HELB even,” he said, reaffirming his ongoing efforts to address students’ financial concerns.

In a powerful metaphor, Manyara likened his leadership approach to that of biblical principles, saying, “I don’t need big numbers; even Jesus had only 12 disciples.” His remark highlighted his belief that meaningful change can be achieved through a small but focused and loyal team.

The statement comes as Dr. Manyara prepares for the official launch of his new initiative, expected to bring together student leaders, educators, and policymakers. Many see his message as a timely reminder for youth to prioritize results and integrity over empty rhetoric.

Dr. Manyara’s leadership style—marked by honesty, boldness, and a people-first philosophy—continues to inspire a generation of students seeking to create real transformation within the education sector and beyond. His words serve as a wake-up call for youth to replace online chatter with tangible action toward progress.
